Cape Seal
Cape Seal is used on roads that are in poor shape and that would otherwise have to be reconstructed in a few years.
Cape Seal is combination of Chip Seal on the bottom and Slurry Seal as the top driving Surface
Cape Seal can be placed over prepared gravel
- First: prime the gravel
- Second: place 2 layer of Chip Seal
- Third: place Slurry for the driving surface
Advantages
- Striping can be done same day if needed
- Yellow temporary raise pavement markers can be for busy roads
- No milling for curbs and manholes required
- Less expensive then a thing overlay and has a similar black appearance to asphalt
- As new construction it is less expensive and stronger then a 2 1/2 inch asphalt paving
- Slurry uses an overlapping seam. This insures a water tight joint and is denser than asphalt which allows less water to penetrate the surface
