What is it Used for?

5 Steps to our Successful Chip Seal Program
- Pre-construction - Determine traffic control level needed, repair large cracks and pot holes as needed.
- Clean the surface and spray emulsion at a predetermined computer controlled rate. Either polymer or non-polymer emulsion.
- Spread a calculated rate of aggregate immediately on the emulsion. We use a Blast Furnace Slag or a washed natural aggregate.
- Compact the aggregate into the emulsion immediately with an 8 ton pneumatic roller(s), multiple passes are required.
- Kickoff sweeping of excess aggregate within 24 hours, optional vacuum sweeping area with curbs.
We follow MDOT 2003 seasonal and temperature guidelines to insure a quality product. We calibrate our equipment daily and have state certified aggregate technicians.
Chip Seal is for sealing aged and raveled pavements, filling minor cracks, restoring skid resistance and restoring aesthetic appeal. It may be used on freeways, residential streets, parking lots, driveways and any area that needs the pavement to be preserved.
